Keeping A Grip Under Pressure

The pressure builds. Thoughts are cluttered. The grip is loosening and the reality of losing is upon you.

This sense of hopelessness can be consuming. It can engulf and cloud all rational views and thoughts. It can bring with it a feeling of isolation and loneliness, the thought that you are the only one suffering. Thoughts that no one else understands your feelings and what you are going through. It can cause you to feel like the victim and that it is all just too unfair.

Although this may seem unlikely at the time, this can be an opportunity to grow. But it’s about choice. How will you deal with this? Will you react negatively or positively? Which path will you take?

Work Life Balance! Is it a Paradox?

Can you rejuvenate, replenish and recover your wellbeing?

When we are striving to achieve our goals and pushing the limits, as many of us do at this time of year, we can find ourselves balancing on a fine edge. So often when one area of our pursuit is solely focussed, a counter reaction occurs and we find ourselves being overloaded. As a result, stress accumulates and we become vulnerable to a physiological and psychological drop off.
Are we intuitive when the alarms start to signal? Or more importantly, are we able to intervene before it is too late? Unfortunately as stress builds, our pro-activeness becomes less evident and our global wellbeing is compromised.

Equilibrium is the key to wellbeing. When we become extremely busy in our lives, or if our load has been continuous, do we off set this with stillness? It is during this hectic period when we can over expend our energy, we equally need to renew. If this simple equation isn’t achieved, we eventually see ourselves fragmenting and subsequently our performance wanes.

As many of us are coming into the holiday season after a hectic period of work, we should allow ourselves to enter a restorative phase so we can rebuild our energy levels again, and get back into striving for our goals. Sleep, good nutrition, regular balanced activity and good social company are a pretty good recipe for R & R.

Be kind to yourself and others this Christmas.
